We'd rather look first and recommend the cleaning that's actually right for your mouth than default to a one-size-fits-all scrub. If dental anxiety, a sensitive gag reflex, or a longer procedure has held you back, sedation dentistry can turn a stressful visit into an easy one. Our philosophy is simple: we use the least sedation necessary to keep you comfortable, and never more. Here are the options we offer at Love Dental in Avondale.
Nitrous Oxide
(Laughing Gas)
You breathe a gentle blend of nitrous oxide and oxygen through a small nosepiece and feel calm and a little floaty within minutes. It wears off almost immediately, so you can drive yourself home. Perfect for mild nerves and everyday treatment.
Oral Sedation
A prescription medication such as diazepam (Valium), taken before your appointment so you arrive relaxed. For deeper comfort, Dr. Abedini may use a carefully chosen combination of oral medications that work together beautifully to melt away anxiety while you stay awake and responsive. You’ll need a ride home.
IV Sedation
The deepest level of relaxation we offer. Medication is delivered through an IV for a smooth, deeply calm state, ideal for longer or more complex treatment and for significant dental fear. Most patients remember little to nothing, and you’ll need someone to drive you home.
